7 Weeks Pregnant – Pregnancy Week By Week

How  do you feel  when you’re 7 weeks pregnant? Here are some answers to  all your questions about Pregnancy in Week 7.

Your Baby in Week 7

Wow! Baby is developing

Did you know that your little one is approximately quarter of an inch in length at this stage? Amazing, right? The size of your baby’s head may seem abnormally large in proportion to the rest of the body right now. But that is nothing to be worried about. That is just how a baby develops.

However, even after so much growth and development, your baby is still actually considered to be an embryo. This next thing we are about to tell you is going to sound a little disconcerting but we assure you this is nothing to be worried about! Your baby is now developing something that resembles a tail. Be not alarmed as this is just a part of the baby’s tailbone, which will slowly disappear in the weeks to follow.

In week 6, we spoke about how tiny dark spots would have appeared where the baby’s eyes and nose would be. Well, your baby now has a fold that resembles eyelids and an adorably tiny tip of the nose too! Your baby’s veins are now quite visible. Not to forget, your baby now has a mouth and a tongue as well! The little one’s teeth and palate are forming in full swing and his ears are developing too.

The umbilical cord is now in full gear as it has its own set of blood vessels which carry nutrients and oxygen to and fro. The developments do not just stop there. While in week 6 we saw the development of stubby looking arms and legs, this week brings in further surprises – hands and feet, though they currently look a lot like duck feet or like a paddle.

In more development news (yes, there is more!), while your baby has already developed pancreas and an appendix, the liver is moving blood about until a bone marrow comes around to take over. Your baby’s brain is steadily growing too – both the left and the right hemispheres.

Week 7 Symptoms

lactation and spots on breasts

Are you noticing a striking change on your breasts? It has been steadily growing in size, yes, and it will continue to. You will see that your areola is now darker in color and has developed some spots on it too. These spots keep the nipples lubricated and supple. They are going to disappear with time, of course.

Burning sensation

Thanks to the hormone party inside your body, the muscles on top of your stomach tend to relax a bit. This causes the digestive acids and fluids to just rise back up. Result? That burning sensation in your heart. Stick to light diet and have lots of water. Antacids work too.

Do you wake up every morning with a drool fest all over your face? Don’t worry about this too much as it generally stops with the first trimester. For the day time, you can keep some mints handy.

Cravings & hatred

Are you hating the sight of your favourite food now? Do you feel like eating a specific dish, for breakfast, lunch and dinner? Don’t worry. Cravings and aversions to food and smell are quite common in pregnancy. Listen to your body’s demands and eat whatever you feel like, but not so much junk food though.

Your Body in Week 7

Hormonal changes!

Even if you are not really showing, there are a lot of changes taking place inside your womb. But believe it or not, your uterus is twice as big, compared to week 7. You are probably noticing a slight increase in your weight right about now. Or wait, did you just lose some weight despite the fact that you are pregnant? Relax, such ups and downs are quite normal in the initial weeks of pregnancy, thanks to nausea and morning sickness. Even if you are not able to eat really well, you must not forget to have all the essential vitamin supplements prescribed to you by the doctor, folic acid being the most important of them all.

Try and include a good variety of fruits, vegetables, diary products and other safe non-vegetarian food items in your daily diet. Don’t ignore carbs as well. You could make a diet chart including food items that will provide all essential nutrients to you, at this stage. Remember to have small meals at frequent intervals. Eating lots at one time may not do you good at all. While we are at diet, are you worried about what is safe and what is not? Check out Mylo Is It Safe tool and get to know all about safety during pregnancy.

Besides the drastic changes that are occurring inside of you, most of the changes you will feel per se are quite like the ones you may have felt in the previous week. There are few changes, no doubt about your changing lifestyle and your body but overall, they are not extremely observable.

Symptoms like Heartburn, drooling

However, compared to the previous week, you may have become increasingly aware of that heartburn you are sensing quite frequently. When you are sleeping, you are probably drooling all over your pillowcase as well! Don’t you worry, it is just a pregnancy symptom that is going to disappear soon.
